Add 5 Cups of Blackberries to a large bowl and mash them up with a Potato Masher. You want to break up the berries until they're the consistency of Jam.
Add in 1 bottle (750ml) of Medium Bodied Red Wine such as Syrah, Merlot or Sangiovese.
Cover the wine berry mixture with a breathable cloth and place in a cool dry place for 48 hours.
Next fine strain the liquid discarding the solids.
Put the wine mixture into a medium sized pot and add 1.5 Cups of sugar. DO NOT BOIL or you will burn off the alcohol! Just heat the mixture up enough fully incorporate the sugar
Take off heat and allow to cool.
Once cooled add in between 1/2 to 3/4 Cup Vodka or Gin. I usually use Gin as it makes for a much more flavorful Liqueur.
