Brown Forman celebrates 150 years of distilling with the rarest Old Forester bourbon yet.

To celebrate 150 years of near, contiusous distillation,  Old Forester is releasing the rarest whiskey in their portfolio to date. Old Forester’s 150th Anniversary expression was aged for 150 months (12.5 years) and will be limited to 150 decanter bottles with a price tag of $2,500.

The decanter the whiskey is bottled in is based on the design of the classic Old Forester holiday bottles from the 1960s and 70s and comes packaged in a wooden box made from reclaimed wood leftover from a 2015 fire at Old Forester’s Whiskey Row location. The special wooden box is modeled after prohibition-era wooden crates used to transport bottles of medicinal whiskey.

Each purchase of this special decanter comes with a VIP tour of the Old Forester distillery and a private reception with the Brown family on December 5, the anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition.

We were lucky enough to visit Old Forester and taste this new expression. Check out our detailed tasting notes here.
