The Macunaƭma was created by Brazilian Bartender Arnaldo Hirai in 2014 at his bar Boca De Ouro in SaƵ Paulo Brazil and is simply a lime sour with a hint of fernet.

The cocktail is named after a novel by Brazilian Writer MĆ rio de Andrade published in 1928, following the exploits of a young man named MacunaĆ­ma who possesses extraordinary abilities.

  • Add all ingredients to a shaking tin.
  • Shake 8-10 seconds.
  • Strain into a chilled old fashioned glass.
  • No ice/no garnish

    As a Brazilian I love cocktails with cachaƧa. It’s worth searching for good quality cachaƧa brands (5000+ in Brazil, but abroad there are good choices such as Leblon or AvuĆ”). This cocktail is much better with Amburana aged cachaƧa. Swapping the syrup for honey works Very well too. Other bitters, or a blend of different ones crentes other distinct profile as well.
